If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please let me know.

Week 1  7-10 April
During our first meetings this week, we spent a lot of time getting to know each other and discussing the Pro-ELT course.  At both of our venues we completed the course information jigsaw reading activity, the expectations of a learner Y-Chart, and briefly discussed the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).  We also began a register list for attendance and contact information as well as created a schedule for our weekly meetings.  Finally, we wrote a brief introduction statement to be emailed or handed in at the end of our meeting.

Here are the links to the data we collected for our Y-Charts about expectations of me, my peers and my trainer.

Week 2  14-17 April
During our second Pro-ELT course meetings we continued our introductory coursework.  We completed another warm-up activity to open the meeting, and we selected course monitors.  We also completed an IT needs/abilities analysis WS and discussed using FaceBook in support of our meetings.  Then we worked on a reading WS about independent learning and a see/think/wonder WS with photos.  We also had a short T/F quiz on the Aptis exam.  Our DELO also offered us all some kind words of encouragement and answered many teachers' questions.

Week 5  5-8 May

Happy Cinco de Mayo, and I'd like to offer a warm welcome to my teachers joining Pro-ELT at SMK Bertam Perdana beginning Tuesday of this week.

With the holiday last week, SMKA Al Irshad and SK Bertam Perdana are very near to being on the same page and will have covered similar information by the end of this week.  SK Desa Murni remains a little bit ahead of the rest of the pack, but everyone is getting closer to being on the same page.  Next Tuesday is Wesak Day, so we will not have our normally scheduled meeting at SK Bertam Perdana.  Please enjoy your holiday.

During week 5, we charged ahead through module 1 in our course book, and finished it at SMKA Al Irshad.  The link to our summary for the module and lexical approach references are below.  For Tuesday's session at SK Bertam Perdana, we began with a general introduction to the Pro-ELT course and got to know each other during our first training session.  Links to information from these activities can be found in weeks 1-4 (above).
In Tuesday's meeting at SK Bertam Perdana, we went through many of the pre-course activities including the Pro-ELT warm up worksheets.  We also collected our coursebooks and discussed the online component of the course.
In Wednesday's meeting at SMK Bertam Perdana, we spent a majority of the morning working in the "Getting Started" unit in the online course.  Mid-way through the morning, our eModerator Chris arrived and we discussed the online component with him.  In the afternoon, we worked on an online course crossword puzzle, and I think that many of the teachers enjoyed the activity.
In Thursday's meeting at SK Desa Murni, we spent a majority of our morning session trying to get online and working through the "Getting Started" unit of the online course.  In the afternoon, we prepared to meet our eModerator Chris over Skype next week.  After lunch, we spent our time on the online crossword, and once again I think many of the teachers enjoyed the activity.

Week 6  12-15 May

Monday at SMKA Al Irshad
We began this meeting with Sikhin's great vocabulary/adjectives warm-up activity.  We spent the majority of the day discussing the online course and getting acquainted with the online course by completing the "Getting Started" module online.  We also completed a survey about our experiences with online courses to help with my research about the online component.

Tuesday was Wesak Day, a public holiday, so we did not have a meeting.

Wednesday at SK Bertam Perdana
Today's meeting began with a fun "Old McDonald Had a Farm" singing warm-up led by Eny.  We then worked on completing module 1 of our EFT course book.  To finish the course, we completed a Wordle activity as a summary of the module.

Thursday at SK Desa Murni
This meeting started with a fun cartoon character group work warm-up led by Zuraini.  After that we worked on module 1 in the EFT course book units 1.1 - 1.8.  We also completed a nice little grammar activity similar to the one at SK Bertam Perdana in week 4.  In the afternoon we met with Chris, our eModerator for the online course and everyone asked him some questions about himself and the online course.

Week 7  19-22 May

Monday at SMKA Al Irshad
This meeting began with a very fun singing warm-up activity to the Beatles song, "Mr. Postman" led by Norleen where teachers sang and acted out 0:30 of the song.  It was a truly enjoyable experience.  We then spent the remainder of our meeting working through units 1.1 - 3.1 in our EFT course book.

Tuesday at PKG Teluk Medan in Perak
This was my first meeting with my teachers in Perak, and it was a pleasure to spend some time getting to know everyone.  It is too bad that David was asked to relocate, but I think we will have a lot of fun together in our meetings.
After getting to know each other a little bit, we picked up where David left off and began module 2 in our EFT course books.  We completed units 1.1 - 1.7, and we discussed many things about how we will conduct our meetings for the remainder of our Pro-ELT meetings together.  We had a lot of fun during this meeting writing and reading our stories of the country mouse and city mouse to our colleagues.

Wednesday at SK Bertam Perdana
Today's meeting began with a fun warm-up led by Zanariah where we sang a "People Work" song.  There are some videos of us all singing somewhere, and when I locate them I will add them to our photos page :-).  For the remainder of our meeting, we completed units 1.1 - 1.7 in our EFT course book.  Once again, we spent some time writing a country mouse city mouse story, and then we had some really interesting stories read to us by our colleagues.

Thursday at SK Desa Murni
This meeting started with an interesting and fun alphabet warm-up activity led by Vickneswari.  We then completed units 1.1 - 1.7 in the EFT course book, and spent a little time writing our country mouse city mouse stories.  Once again, we had a lot of fun sharing our stories with our friends in our meeting.

Week 8  26-29 May

This was a shortened week to allow our students and teachers a well-deserved school holiday.

Monday at SMKA Al Irshad
Today's meeting began with a fun warm-up by Malar, followed by some continued work in our EFT course books.  We completed units 3.1 - 5.1, which set us up nicely to complete the unit after the holiday.

Tuesday at PKG Teluk Medan in Perak
I led the warm-up activity for the day, and we had a very competitive session of the "hot seats" warm-up where teachers had a lot of fun describing the words to their friends in the hot seat.  For the remainder of our session, we worked through modules 2.1 - 5.1 in the EFT course book.

Our meetings on Wednesday at SK Bertam Perdana and Thursday at SK Desa Murni were postponed to allow everyone a well deserved holiday.

See you next month in Kuala Lumpur at the Pro-ELT Showcase!

Week 9  2-5 June

School holidays - no meetings

Week 10  9-13 June

While this week was once again part of our school holidays, a few of us attended the Pro-ELT Showcase in KL and presented information to introduce our audience to the online component of the Pro-ELT course.  We had many DELO's in our session, including our Penang DELO, Nor Aziah, who was very kind to attend our presentation and offer her support.  Additionally, Mr. Charanjit from SK Desa Murni attended and participated in a round table discussion, and Ms. Nurrulhudha from SK Bertam Perdana and Ms. Norliza from PKG Teluk Medan were great assets to our presentation.  Norliza even recruited a Pro-ELT 1 teacher, Ms. Norhafiza, to help us with our session, and she was an expert in helping our audience access and navigate the online course during our session.  Many thanks to everyone who attended and participated, and we will see you all at next year's Showcase!

Here are a few souvenir photos from our session.
